Our first market!

On Sunday, Dessie Designs had its very first market stall at the East Lindfield Village Markets!

I had been checking the weather all week and it was meant to rain pretty much the entire day, so waking up to sunshine felt like a very good start. And somehow, the sun stayed out for us!

It was such a proud (and slightly surreal) moment seeing everything set up for the first time. So many of these illustrations had just been drawings sitting on my iPad not that long ago, and suddenly they were cards, prints and bunting hanging on my own little stall, ready for people to buy. After all the drawing, printing, cutting, packaging and planning that went into getting Dessie Designs ready for its first market, it was really special to stand back and see it all together.

But I think my favourite part of the day was actually meeting people. I wasn't quite prepared for how lovely and encouraging everyone would be! Hearing people say they liked my illustrations, watching them look through the cards and seeing which designs they were drawn to gave me such a boost of confidence.

I also had some very special friends completely surprise me by turning up to support me, which made my day. 🤍

And a very big thank you has to go to Mum and Dad. They helped me with so much in the lead-up and on the day itself, and I really couldn't have done it without them.

I came home absolutely exhausted, but also really proud. Starting Dessie Designs has involved a lot of figuring things out as I go, so having my first market finally happen felt like a pretty special little milestone.
